The Choice is Yours

Many feel that they must choose between the lesser of two evils in this presidential election.  Yet this is not so.

The United States of America is a republic with a democratic process.  This means that elected officials get hired by the vote of the people.   And these elected officials must carry out  the will of the people who hired them. Regardless of the personal feelings or beliefs of the elected official.

We are free-will beings and even God Himself will not violate our right to choice.  Take for example the book of 1st Samuel 8:1-9. The children of Israel demanded a king like the other nations. Despite the fact, God Himself desired to be their leader, guide, and king. God gave the people what they wanted.

8 Now it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel. 2 The name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah; they were judges in Beersheba. 3 But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.
4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, 5 and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”
6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. 8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. 9 Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.” 1 Samuel 8:1-9NKJV

In our election process, there is another option where you can make your choice known. This option has gotten little to no attention.  It is the power of the pen, pencil or sticker if you will. The power to write-in your choice.

Generally, write-in candidates can compete in any election within the United States.  Write-in candidates have a small chance of winning.  But there have been some strong showings by write-in candidates over the years.  Retrieved from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Write-in_candidate.

Don’t like your choices? Choose someone else.  Pick up the pen and write-in!
